Body combing is an ancient Chinese self-healing treatment, an extension of gua sha that works a bit more deeply, providing a more intensive massage into the meridians. This comb works to unblock energy channels which releases stagnation. More importantly, it leaves you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed so it is ideal in the morning and evening in the shower and best to use an oil with it. It boosts lymphatic drainage, making it particularly effective for weight loss, water retention and cellulite. The 12 major meridian channels all start at the head. Along the meridians are places where qi is more accessible; these are where acupuncture needles are inserted or acupressure points stimulated. Combing gently stimulates the meridian channels. Just as this jade comb is used on the head to draw circulation to the skin and clear the meridians, extending the ritual to the body will: *clear areas of stagnation *boost circulation *support lymphatic drainage *smooth the appearance of skin *release tension *reduce cortisol (stress hormones) which can affect acne!!! *support immunity *nourish skin Body combing, particularly around the abdomen, stimulates the qi, which supports the digestive system and rebalances the internal organs. There is a meridian here called the ‘Dai meridian’. According to Chinese medicine, fat accumulation in these areas is often due to the blockages in this channel.
